Acts 20:35 “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
In late 2008, I sat down with my Pastor and described to her my vision for a Community Center. I owned an empty building in Frost, Texas and I felt like it would be a great place to help our community out by having a central location for everyone to meet and get to know each other again—give a hand up and help someone out.
My Pastor had a vision as well, not only for a Community Center where we could tutor school children, help the unemployed write resumes or search for a job, but we could develop a food bank.
In February 2009, the Frost Community Center was formed. The Center is feeding over 95 families we have helped the needy find work, and the Center feeds after school children who would otherwise go hungry over the weekend until they got back to school. The Center has ministered to those who have asked for God’s blessing.
I pray that I have shined a light for those who need help and we can all be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.
