PROCEDURES FOR DECOMMISSION OF WIND TURBINE BLADES
First cut at 20 feet from the blade tip with machine mounted saw.
Remove section and stack to be loaded for disposal and or recycling.
Continue to move down in 20-foot sections
Sections to be cut down to as flat as possible or to be loaded for disposal and or recycling.
Continue cutting all sections as flat as possible to adhere to disposal or recycling facility specifications
Load sections and cut material into trucks or roll off boxes for hauling to disposal or recycling facility
Conduct a walk through of the work site to ensure all waste has been removed upon completion of cutting, demolition, and removing blades
TETC uses a saw that utilizes water to mitigate the dust created by cutting the blade. However, it has been determined that the slurry created by the water and dust can cause more harm to the immediate environment than dry cutting. The dust can be scooped or collected at the end of the project with minimal disturbance to the area.
